Avoca St Retarding Basin

Stormwater Harvesting & Re-Use System – Melbourne Water

Melbourne Water was seeking to undertake a test case scenario for retrofitting a Stormwater Harvesting & Re-Use System within the Gilarth St Main Drain (Avoca St) Retarding Basin in Highett.

Fisher & Fisher provided the concept and functional design documentation for the Stormwater Harvesting and Re-Use System.  Survey and geotechnical investigations were undertaken followed by a comprehensive hydrologic analysis and water balance before the design proceeding.  Fisher & Fisher developed a design that included a Gross Pollutant Trap, Bio-Retention system, wetland / lake with an underground storage as a final filter.  A pump system was designed to deliver water to downstream users.
